THE AVETT BROTHERS (US)
The Avett Brothers er søsknene Scott (banjo) og Seth (gitarer) Avett, som sammen med Rob Crawford på kontrabass bygger denne magiske konstellasjon fra Concord, North Carolina.
Avettene har sakte, men sikkert ekspandert siden 2000. Elementer av pop og hillbilly er blitt lagt til trioens country/bluegrass kjerne. På albumet fra i fjor finnes et cello parti her og et keyboard cresendo der. Brødrene har satt fokuset på teksturen i låtene istedet for skrikende høyt volum. Scott og Seth Avett deler på vokalen, lyrikken spres med snakke-synge stemme som lyder både tonesterkt og ukonvensjonelt.
Syv album (inkl. studio utgivelser) har bandet på samvittigheten, for blodfans er det kanskje de spontane ramshackle skivene "Emotionalism" og "Mignonette", begge utgitt i 2004 som virkelig fikk blodet til å bruse. Gleam EP-ene er også yndlinger. Tilhengerne holdt pusten da trioen signert på megaselskapet Columbia Records, men ingen kommersiell skade skjedd. Fjorårets album" I and Love and You" (produsert av legenden Rick Rubin) har blitt godt mottatt;
