DARK CASTLE (US)
Floridas doom-metal duo dukket opp i 2007 med det nå så ettertraktede samleobjektet "Flight of the Pegasus". Demoen fikk metal pressen til å bange i ren spenning på kommende utgivelser fra Dark Castle. En ny variant av drone-doom og sludge ble stikkordene. Kollegaene Minsk fra Relapse Records tok helt av i sin dom; Dark Castle har noe av det beste som har hendt metalscena i sør på lenge og en helt klar nødvendig utvikling av en subsjanger som er blitt "hakk i plata".
Det er lett å se hvorfor usignerte band av dette kaliberet får nakkene til å vri seg hos plateselskapene. En ekstrem kurositet i metalkategorien, mesteparten av vokal og gitararbeidet står en kvinne for - Stevie Floyd.
Rob Shaffer deler vokalistrollen og er trommenes mester.
Dark Castle har som varemerke å unngå bruk av bass, live såvel som på plate. Noe som er slående uvant i en gate så intimt assosiert med lavfrekvens amplifierdyrkelse. Med drahjelp fra imponerte Minsk, Buried At Sea og Kylesas Philip Cope ble Darl Castle signert på At A Loss Recordings.
Debut og fullengder "Spirited Migration " ble utgitt i mai i fjor og lovordene har haglet fra stålindustrien:

OKKULTOKRATI (N)
Okkultokrati er medlemmer fra Haust, Susie Cain, Catena Collapset og Common Cause som spiller stygg, dødstung og pessimistisk musikk et sted mellom punk, black metal og hardcore. Eller som en veldig drøy bastard av Darkthrone, Black Flag. Black Death og Black Sabbath, som er store forbilder.
Oslobaserte Okkultokrati er punkerne som har svartnet i kantene, hard snacks både for punkelskere og svartmetallere. Vokalen er en av de sterkeste parameterne og lyrikken fremføres i tro black-metal tradisjon.
Demoen "Knarkskog" ble utgitt i fjor, bandets debut på selskapet Lilla Himmel. Fire spor med frenetisk hardcore/punk med sjuk vokal og nok av svart kaos. Nå er Okkultokrati og på Fysisk Format.
